The Constant of Change: We are Hiring!
The Controller’s Office is undergoing a significant transformation, and we are excited to announce that we are hiring! Change is a constant in our office, and as we navigate through it, we recognize the challenges that come with it.

Hurdles Overcome
Upon stepping into my role, I faced three main hurdles: First, most of our staff were newly hired, with less than a year of experience. Second, we faced the retirement of our long-serving Audit Manager, Anthony Sabino, who dedicated nearly 30 years to our county. Lastly, Stacy Duke, a veteran with 17 years in the office, was hesitant to leave her secure Career Service position for an appointed role under the Controller.
According to the Home Rule Charter, the Controller can appoint one individual to lead the office. However, frequent transitions every four or eight years can lead to instability and inefficiency. Recognizing this challenge, I took action by creating the position of Senior Lead Auditor through a Council-approved resolution. Stacy stepped into that role, but we still had vacancies for Lead Auditors and several Auditor I and II positions. We quickly filled one Auditor I position and began training our new team members.
Bittersweet Farewell
Just as things began to stabilize, we received news that Altanay Kanatbekoff—an exceptional Auditor II with a Columbia University education and military background—would be leaving us for a new opportunity. We celebrated her contributions with a farewell, and good luck, lunch on December 5th. Her departure was bittersweet; Ally not only contributed significantly to our team but also brought a unique dynamic to our office culture. As we say goodbye to Ally, we are actively seeking new talent! We are hiring for both an Auditor I and an Auditor II position.
We're Hiring!
The Auditor I role is entry-level and focuses on examining financial transactions to ensure compliance with laws and regulations. Candidates with an accounting background will learn audit procedures and conduct routine financial audits for various entities. The Auditor II position requires a more seasoned understanding of the audit process. This role involves performing both financial and performance audits that can enhance county programs and policies. With a fully staffed audit team, we can significantly improve transparency and efficiency in county operations.
Once the job postings are available internally, they will also be listed on the Northampton County website under "Northampton County Job Postings." Interested candidates can apply online for either position. While we interview potential new hires, I want to express my appreciation for our current auditors’ hard work during this transitional period.
Talent Welcome
We look forward to welcoming new members into our audit family. If you’re interested in being part of a dynamic team that values growth and collaboration, consider applying for one of these exciting opportunities! Join us as we continue to adapt and thrive amidst change in the Controller’s Office—where your contributions can make a real difference!
